American Conference Releases 2026-27 Men’s Basketball Pairings

Men’s basketball set to host Memphis, Tulsa, Wichita State, among others at The Super Pit
IRVING, Texas – The American Conference announced the men's basketball league schedule pairings for the upcoming 2026-27 season on Friday.
The Mean Green men's basketball conference schedule features home contests against NIT runners-up Tulsa and NIT semifinalists Wichita State along with three-time American Conference champions Memphis. UNT won home contests over Tulsa and Memphis at the Super Pit last season.
The North Texas home conference schedule will also include meetings against Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, Rice, Temple, Tulane and UTSA. Since its first season in the American (2023-24), the Mean Green are 15-4 inside the Super Pit against their nine upcoming home conference opponents.
UNT will travel to Florida Atlantic, Rice and UTSA for return conference trips while it will not host East Carolina, South Florida or UAB. South Florida is reigning American regular season and tournament champions who fell to Louisville in a thrilling 83-79 loss in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Last year, head coach Daniyal Robinson led the Mean Green to a 19-win campaign which ranked third in program history for a first-year head coach.
The 2026-27 team will feature five returners including Je'Shawn Stevenson who features as the league's only returning all-conference selection from last season. The group is rounded out by seven newcomers with four transfers and three incoming freshmen.
