Luke Walerius was hired as North Texas football's director of recruiting on January 31, 2018 and was promoted to the Football Chief of Staff ahead of the 2019 season.

Walerius previously served in the recruiting office under head coach Mark Stoops at Kentucky for five seasons, where worked in all aspects of recruiting, including talent evaluation. Walerius was a student recruiting assistant for three seasons (2013-15), and served as a graduate assistant under Stoops for two seasons (2016 and 2017).

The Alexandria, Kentucky, native earned his bachelor's degree in community, leadership and development from the University of Kentucky. He is married to the former Sarah Szymczak.
