Juan Ramirez Achury is in his second stint as a volunteer assistant for the UNT women's tennis program.
Ramirez Achury comes to UNT after spending one season as the head men's and women's coach at Southwestern College (NAIA) in Winfield, KS. In his one year at the helm, he led the women's team to the KCACÂ Tournament title and an appearance in the NAIA Tournament while also leading the men's program to the final of the KCAC Tournament.
Shortly after graduation from Southwestern, he was hired as a graduate assistant for Tabor College. At Tabor, Ramírez Achury helped the Blue Jays qualify for their first postseason appearance since 2013.Â

Ramírez Achury, a native of Bogota, Colombia, played collegiately Southwestern alumni who played four seasons for the tennis program. While at Southwestern he was part of the first regular-season conference championship, and the first ever ranked team in SC history.
In addition, Ramírez Achury was an ITA scholar athlete and KCAC scholar athlete three times in his four years at SC. He earned a bachelor's degree in Sports Management, as well as a minor in psychology and a minor in business administration.
Ramírez Achury spent his last three summers working at US Sports camps in New Jersey. While in the Northeast he was able to work for Princeton University Head tennis coach Billy Pate, and Amherst College head coach Todd Doebler.Â
