Miranda Smith

Miranda Smith has been at North Texas since September 2022 and was elevated to the role of Assistant Director for Sports Nutrition in March of 2024. In her role, Smith serves as the primary dietitian for men's and women's basketball, softball, track and field/cross country and volleyball. She started at UNT as a Sports Nutrition Fellow overseeing track and field/cross country, softball, and women's basketball, and briefly assisting with football.
Smith promotes performance nutrition in athletes through 1-on-1 counseling, team educations, grocery store tours, meal planning, management of fueling stations, implementation of nutrition protocols for injury, supplements and hydration, and management of eating disorders/disordered eating and food allergies. Smith maintains record of allergens and works closely with athletes, dining halls, restaurants/caterers, and coaches to make sure food safety measures are taken on all fronts. She also coordinates pre-game nutrition strategies and post-game recovery strategies to optimize student-athlete performance and recovery at home and on the road.
Prior to UNT, Smith earned a bachelor's of science degree in Nutrition from Baylor University & a master's of science degree in Nutrition from University of Alabama at Birmingham. Smith has served as a personal trainer at Lifetime Fitness, and Outpatient Clinical Dietitian at Aramark. In addition to her role at North Texas, Smith also works as an Adjunct Professor at Baylor University.
