Ryan Roberts joined the UNT staff as a defensive graduate assistant in February of 2025. He works directly with the cornerbacks with the Mean Green.
Roberts joins the UNT staff after spending the 2024 season as a graduate assistant working with the safeties at Sam Houston.
In his one year with the Bearkats, Roberts helped SHSU finish 19th in FBS in total defense, 10th in passing defense, eighth in red zone defense and 17th in the nation in turnovers forced. The Bearkats finished the year 10-3 and earn the first bowl victory in program history with a 31-26 win over Georgia Southern in the New Orleans Bowl.
Prior to his time at Sam Houston, Roberts played quarterback at McNeese from 2021-23. He appeared in 10 games and made four starts after beginning his career as a walk on. Following his playing career, Roberts was a student assistant at McNeese working with the quarterbacks in the Spring of 2024.
Roberts achieved his Bachelor's degree in Sport & Wellness Management from McNeese in 2024.
