Hired prior to the 2021-22 season, Wright comes to North Texas after a stint on the PGA Korn Ferry Tour and is one of the most decorated golfers in LSU men's golf history.
Wright has played in more than 60 events on the Korn Ferry Tour with a career-best finish of third at the 2021 AdventHealth Championship.
Wright graduated from LSU in 2016 and led the Tigers to their fifth NCAA Championship in 2015 by going a perfect 3-0 in match play en route to finishing his career a perfect 6-0 in match play in three straight appearances at the NCAA Championship from 2014-16. Wright was a two-time All-American and two-time All-SEC performer in his career. He was named a Second-Team All-American by both PING and Golfweek as a senior in 2016 and picked up PING Honorable Mention All-America honors as a junior in 2015. Wright won four tournament titles during his collegiate career, including the 2013 Louisiana Classics, 2016 Prestige at PGA West, 2016 Valspar Collegiate Invitational and 2016 Tiger Classic while posting a 72.81 career scoring average to tie for the No. 4 spot on LSU’s career scoring charts since 1982.Â
Wright is originally from Phoenix and attending Pinnacle High School, and he was the No. 1 recruit in Arizona and one of the top recruits in the country in the Class of 2012 and qualified for the U.S. Amateur that same year.
