North Texas men and women set for three-day event in Fayetteville
DENTON, Texas – The North Texas men's and women's golf teams are both headed to Fayetteville, Ark., this weekend to compete in the Blessings Collegiate Invitational at Blessings Golf Club.
The three-day event hosted by Arkansas begins Saturday morning and runs through Monday, with each Mean Green squad competing in separate nine-team fields.
The UNT men enter the weekend with momentum after a runner-up finish last time out at the Argent Financial Classic. A lineup of Mitchell Maier, Arjun Singh Bhatia, Connor Bryce, Dion Regan and Rayhan Latief are set to compete against a field featuring Arkansas, Kansas State, Little Rock, Middle Tennessee, Nebraska, Oral Roberts, Southern Miss and UNC Greensboro.
The Mean Green will be paired with Middle Tennessee and UNC Greensboro for Saturday's opening round and tee off on the 10th hole at 8:35 a.m.
On the women's side, North Texas returns to action after hosting its season opener, The Bruzzy, back on Sept. 8-9. There, it posted a 54-hole score of 866 (+2) to take eighth place.
True freshman Siena Nieto led UNT in her collegiate debut, tying for 20th through a 3-under 213. After opening with a 74, Nieto played her final 36 holes at 5-under with rounds of 69 and 70.
Nieto will be joined in Fayetteville by Bouquet Subsomboon, Marin Fujiyasu, Reicherin Hanslkie and Victoria Georgieva, giving the Mean Green the same five-player lineup that competed at The Bruzzy. The opposing field includes Arkansas, Alabama, Cincinnati, Kansas State, Kent State, Minnesota, Princeton and Rice.
North Texas' women will play alongside Princeton and Cincinnati in Saturday's opening round and are scheduled to tee off at 10:05 am. on hole No. 1.
