Men’s Golf Heads to Louisiana for Argent Financial Classic

DENTON, Texas – The UNT men's golf team returns to action this weekend for the Argent Financial Classic at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, La. The three-day, 54-hole tournament will feature one round each day from Sunday to Tuesday on the par-72, 7,105-yard course.
The Mean Green will send a five-man lineup of Blake Keen, Mitchell Maier, Connor Bryce, Arjun Singh Bhatia and Dion Regan. Keen, Maier, Bryce and Singh Bhatia all competed as part of the lineup at the season opener, while Regan moves into a starting role after playing as an individual.
Sophomore Rayhan Latief and senior Rafael Estrada are set to compete as individuals, with Estrada making his first appearance of the season.
Headed into its second event of the year, North Texas is coming off a third-place finish at the Island Resort Intercollegiate. The Mean Green finished the tournament at 13-under and were led by Bryce, who tied for 11th at 5-under in his collegiate debut. Singh Bhatia finished one shot behind him in a tie for 13th, and Regan placed top 15 thanks to a team-low 67 in the second round.
Maier returns to Squire Creek after a strong showing at last season's event. In his collegiate debut, Maier shot an 8-under 208 to tie for seventh, highlighted by a 65 in the third round. The performance helped North Texas finish tied for ninth.
This year's 13-team field includes host Louisiana Tech, East Texas A&M, Jacksonville State, Lamar, Louisiana, LSU New Orleans, Nicholls, Tarleton State, Texas State, Troy, ULM and West Florida. North Texas has won the event twice, claiming back-to-back team titles in 2013 and 2014.
