Cranmer and Maxey Named All-Sun Belt

DENTON - North Texas softball student-athletes Stephanie Cranmer and Katy Maxey have been named to the All-Sun Belt Conference Team, released Wednesday by the league office.
Cranmer, a junior outfielder, was selected to the first team after leading the team with a .290 batting average and 64 hits. In conference-only games, Cranmer leads the Sun Belt with a .403 average and 25 hits. The Moreno Valley Calif., native has increased her batting average by 35 points since the start of league play, helping the Mean Green to five conference wins in the last eight games.
Maxey was named to the second team as a designated player. The freshman has played a variety of roles on the Mean Green, including pitcher, right fielder and designated player. The Katy, Texas native is tied for first on the squad with 10 doubles and is fourth on the team with nine multi-hit games.
North Texas enters the Sun Belt Conference tournament with a 21-55 overall record and a 6-14 league mark. The Mean Green, seeded fifth, plays fourth seed Western Kentucky on Thursday, May 13 at 1:30 pm in Lafayette, Louisiana.
