DENTON (4/1/05) The North Texas softball game versus Oklahoma State on Friday was cancelled due to a death in the family of a teammate.
Sophomore Heather Bostic’s younger brother Andrew died in a car accident in Oklahoma on Thursday night. Following a team meeting on Friday, the softball squad collectively agreed not to play the game in Heather’s absence. The team is making arrangements to attend the funeral services.
"This is a tragedy for the North Texas softball team and the entire athletic department," said athletic director Rick Villarreal. "Heather is a tremendous young person, and we all grieve with her. Our thoughts and prayers are with Heather and the entire Bostic family. We have a tremendous support structure within the North Texas family and will continue to help Heather and her family as well as the entire softball team in any way that we can."
