Men's Basketball And Softball In Action Today

DENTON (2/15/06) - The North Texas men's basketball team hosts its final home game of the season, while the Mean Green softball team opens the home portion of its schedule today. The men play UT-Pan American tonight at 7 pm in the Super Pit, while the softball team hosts Texas State at 3 pm at Denia Park.
The North Texas men's basketball team will be trying to tie its most non-conference victories over the last 23 years and record the third most victories at the Super Pit in school history when it faces UT-Pan American on Thursday. The Mean Green will play its last three games, all against Sun Belt West Division opponents, on the road to close out the regular season. North Texas still has a chance to tie for the Sun Belt West Division championship, but must win out and South Alabama must be swept in its final four games for that to happen.
The softball team looks to go 3-0 in home openers today in the three-year history of the program. The Mean Green faces Texas State, who it defeated last year for NT's first win of the season. North Texas started its season 2-2 with a second-place finish at the Sam Houston State tournament last weekend. The 2-2 start is the best in school history.
