Waters Homers In Mean Green Softball Loss

FIU swept the three-game conference series against the Mean Green. NT falls to 16-22 overall and 0-3 in the Sun Belt.
Waters hit a solo home run in the sixth inning after FIU took a 3-0 lead. The junior was the only Mean Green to post two hits in the game; she posted a double in the first inning.
Sophomore Kristina Fowler took the loss on the mound for the Mean Green. She pitched four innings, allowed three runs off five hits and was relieved by Jessica Smith in the fifth. Offensively, Fowler posted a single in the third inning, extending her hitting streak to nine games.
The Golden Panthers took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning off a Mean Green error. NT had an opportunity in the third inning to score runs but left two runners stranded on base.
FIU posted only five hits in the game but was able to make each one count. The Golden Panthers scored one run in the third and fourth innings to jump ahead, 3-0.
Taylor Johnston posted NT’s fourth hit of the game with a single in the seventh inning but was left stranded on base.
