Men's Basketball Is Impressive In Exhibition Debut

The defending Sun Belt Conference champions improved to 11-0 in exhibition games under head coach Johnny Jones. NT opens its season on Saturday, Nov. 10 when the Mean Green faces Cameron at 7:30 p.m. at home.
The Mean Green led by 27 points at the half, 57-30, and extended its lead to as many as 40 late in the game.
All of NT’s five starters scored in double figures and two players came off the bench to post double digits. Senior point guard Ben Bell led
Senior Dez Willingham made his first start in a Mean Green uniform. He hit his first three-pointers and finished with 12 points, all from behind the arc. Freshman Adam McCoy also made his first start and joined Willingham with shots from behind the arc. He posted 14 points and hit three three-pointers.
Returning senior Quincy Williams posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Classmate Keith Wooden contributed 12 points. Junior Justin Howerton was two points shy of double digits with eight points.
Newcomers Josh White and Tristan Thompson were also impressive. White scored 13 points, while Thompson posted 11 points and pulled down eight rebounds.
