Waters And Jones Named To All-Tournament Team

Tulsa, OK (3/6/07) - Senior Susan Waters and sophomore Sarah Jones were named to the all-tournament team at the Great Western Downtown Plaza Classic for their play this past weekend.
The Mean Green (3-16) went 0-5 in the Tulsa tournament, falling to Iowa State, Kansas and Tulsa. North Texas lost to Iowa State, 4-2, in nine innings in the third-place game.
Jones led the team offensively this weekend with six hits and a .462 batting average. In the 7-4 loss to Kansas, the second baseman went 2-for-3 with a career-high two RBI. The sophomore posted a hit in each of the five tournament games and is riding a personal-best six-game hitting streak. Jones is third on the team overall with a .286 batting average and 16 hits.
Waters, a preseason All-Sun Belt selection, posted a .308 batting average in the tournament with four hits. She hit her team-leading fifth home run of the season in the 14-1 loss to Tulsa. The third baseman leads the team with a .364 average, 20 hits, three doubles and 10 RBI. Waters has been named to the Tulsa All-Tournament three straight years.
North Texas returns to action on Tuesday, March 6 when it faces Arkansas on the road at 3 pm.
