North Texas Women's Basketball vs. FIU Live Game Chat

11:14 p.m. - Tony Hooper hits the shot of the tournament, a fall away game-winning three-pointer with 0.7 left and the Mean Green now know they will play the Warhawks tomorrow at 8:45 p.m. from The Summit. What a game!
10:54 p.m. - We have officially entered upset alert time. The Warhawks still leads 68-64 with 4:50 left.
10:02 p.m. - Bit of a shocker here at halftime between ULM and ULL. Warhawks lead 49-43 at halftime and the Sun Belt Player of the Year Tyren Johnson left a minute before halftime with an apparent back injury.
8:58 p.m. - After settling down from the big win and getting some food in us we're back at as we're about to do a live game chat in the ULL/ULM contest. The winner will play North Texas tomorrow at 8:45 p.m. from Summit Arena.
5:05 p.m. - And that's a wrap! The Mean Green pull off the upset once again by beating FIU 61-51. Denetra Kellum (17 points) and Jasmine Godbolt (11) were huge in the 2nd half. Caitlin Hawkins also scored in double-figures with 11. North Texas is moving on to play Middle Tennessee tomorrow at 2:15 p.m. We will have much more from today's game so check back often. Coach Stephens' postgame press conference is below:
4:35 p.m. - The Mean Green have maintained a lead nearly the entire 2nd half and right now have a 51-43 lead with only three and a half minutes left.
4:06 p.m. - North Texas has come out the 2nd half on fire and lead 36-32 with 13:41 remaining. Kellum and Godbolt leading the charge.
3:58 p.m. - The Mean Green just took their first lead of the game, 29-27 with 17:08 to go in the game. Maybe Coach Stephen's pregame pep talk is motivating the team...
Now I'm back to my home on the baseline to get more video of the game.
3:51 p.m. - Caitlin Hawkins made a few big 3-pointers down the stretch in the first half to make it 26-21 FIU at halftime. The second half is starting right now.
2:27 p.m. - After a tightly contested game it was Arkansas St. knocking off Troy. We will be opening our game chat shortly.
1:42 p.m. - Coach Stephens and the women's team arrived just before 1pm.
1:32 p.m. - We're gearing up for the game here at the Convention Center Court and I must say that this little gym might actually be the favorite of the two for me. Of course Arkansas St. has a great turn out and that helps matters. This place is VERY loud because there's nowhere else for the noise to carry, making it a perfect basketball environment. By the looks of last night we know North Texas should be well represented too. A little over an hour to go before tipoff!
12:58 p.m.- Well its tournament time and upon arrival to the Summit Arena we learn of the first upset of the day. Didn't take long either as the very unlikely No. 12 seed New Orleans takes down the No. 5 seed FAU in the women's first round. Good signs if you're a Mean Green fan as North Texas is going for an upset of their own coming up at 2:30.
10:52 a.m. - To get everyone ready for the games and get the Mean Green spirit going, we have more video from the Sun Belt Pep Band Spectacular last night. While the band played, Scrappy pulled a few lucky ladies out of the crowd for a dance:

10:26 a.m. - Day 2 officially begins in Hot Springs and now we can finally see some basketball. The women are about 4 hours away from tipping off against FIU. Just a reminder we will be having a live gameday chat that you can access above this paragraph. We will be doing the same with the ULL-ULM men's game tonight. Jordan is about to put up a video showing the band, dancers and Scrappy from last night. Overall a great turn out by the Mean Green nation!

- Dribble Drive to Summit Arena (8:30 a.m.), Hill Wheatley Plaze (Registration begins at 7:30 a.m.): Children 8th Grade and younger are encouraged to join Hot Springs and Sun Belt Officials in a Dribble Drive through downtown to the arena.
- Women's First Round Games: vs. FIU @ 2:30 p.m., Convention Center Court,
- Mean Green Send-Offs, Summit Arena (women): Join North Texas Spirit Groups approx 1 1/2 hours prior to tip-offs and rally the Mean Green as the women's team arrives at the Summit Arena.
- Hot Hoops in Hot Springs Headquarters, TBA Lucky's Bar & Grill, 711 Central Ave., Hot Springs: Mean Green Nation and pre & post-game gatherings at Lucky's Bar & Grill with specials including Mean Green Margaritas and Green Pride Beer.
