North Texas Women's Basketball vs. Middle Tennessee Game Chat
North Texas Men's Basketball vs. UL-Monroe Game Chat
11:45 p.m. - Coach Jones and Josh White spoke to the media after the game...
11:08 p.m. - And it is because of a game like that why you love March Madness! The Mean Green pull of the comeback and move on to play Denver tomorrow night at 8:30 p.m. in the semi-finals. Josh White, Eric Tramiel and Tristan Thompson refused to let this season come to an end and made some huge plays during the final three minutes.
Please keep checking in tomorrow for continuous updates as well as our live game chat.
A reminder the game will be on Charter cable channel 25 in the Denton area.
10:37 p.m. - A Eric Tramiel putback brings the Mean Green to within 59-53 with 3:50 left....it's now or never for North Texas.
10:19 p.m. - It's nervous time for Mean Green Nation. North Texas still trailing 52-43 with 11:26 left in regulation...need to make a run quick.
9:49 p.m. - After falling behind 18-4 to start the game, the Mean Green have crawled back into it at halftime and trail 33-27. Hopefully North Texas can carry that momentum into the second half and keep the dream alive for a Sun Belt Conference Championship.
8:33 p.m. - The Mean Green men are about to tip off with the Warhawks of UL-Monroe. Here's a look at Hank Dickenson's pregame interview with Coach Johnny Jones...I hope I'm not spoiling any radio secrets by posting this, and I hope you can hear him over the roaring crowd watching the ASU-WKU game in the background...
8:00 p.m. - The team left the hotel around 7:45 p.m..
4:22 p.m. - That's it Mean Green fans, 106-66 the final, thanks for all of you that joined us today. Just a reminder we'll be back tonight for the men's game around 8:30 ish so be sure to come back and participate in the chat.
4:07 p.m. - Looks like North Texas' season will be coming to an end. The Blue Raiders lead 94-54 with 5 minutes remaining. Alysha Clark has set a single-game Sun Belt conference tournament record with 40 points currently.
3:56 p.m. - Well ladies and gentleman we have witnessed history thanks to some new rules just created by the Sun Belt....apparently you can make a three-pointer get fouled and are allowed 2 free throws! Because of that Lanning just made a 5-point play...we are all in disbelief. The refs called it a 1-and-1 after Lanning made a 3 and was shoved to the floor...never seen that in my life.
3:35 p.m. - A 15-2 run for Middle Tennessee to open the second half has blown it wide open here in Hot Springs, Blue Raiders lead 63-29.
3:29 p.m. - The second half is starting right now. I was talking with Coach Stephens before the game and I told her (jokingly, of course) that I was taking credit for the second half comeback yesterday because during halftime I posted her pregame pep talk on the blog. So, let's see if it works again...
2:02 p.m. - We're here courtside awaiting the women's showdown against Middle Tennessee in the quarterfinals. It should be very interesting to see how the Mean Green respond considering this was the same Blue Raiders team that handed North Texas their worst loss in school history (68 points) last time these two met in the regular season. North Texas will have their hands full and need all the stars to allign but this is why you play the game.
We'll have the chat open for all of you at 2:15, so feel free to come on in and have a good time with us and ask questions.
11:36 a.m. - Just got back from the alumni and friends brunch sponsored by the Sun Belt. It was a great to see fans and staff from all the different conference schools. Many of the schools had alumni booths set up where people could pick up information and free gifts. There should be a lot of people wearing North Texas beads in Hot Springs today! Also thanks to the dancers, cheerleaders, and pep band for attending this event and making sure there was a lot of green in attendance. Coming up in just over an hour at 12:45, there will be a pep rally just outside the Summit Arena to welcome the women's team for the game against Middle Tennessee at 2:15.
10:01 a.m. - Day 3 in Hot Springs brings a full day of Mean Green basketball. The women start things off at 2:15 in the Summit Arena vs. Middle Tennessee. The men will wrap up quarterfinal action with the last game of the day, taking on the Warhawks of UL-Monroe at 8:45 in Summit Arena.
