Slow Start Dooms Women's Golf At SMU Invitational

Junior Eji Kwon led the women's golf team with a final round 75 at the SMU Dallas Invitational.
Final Results
DALLAS - Junior Eji Kwon fired a final round 75 (three-over par) as the North Texas women's golf team finished 16th at the SMU Invitational Saturday afternoon.
A tough first day put the Mean Green in last place after posting a 353 score as a team. North Texas bounced back in round two shooting a 314 and fired a final round 306 but still finished in 16th place.
Kwon completed the two-day tournament in a tie for 63rd with scores of 83-76-75. In her final round 75, she produced three birdies on the par-72 Dallas Athletic club course.
Sophomore Nyca Khaw finished tied for 74th with a three-round total of 246 (91-78-77). Khaw bounced back to shoot a second round 78 and saved her best round for last with a 77 off one birdie. Freshman Samantha Huang shot a final round 79 to finish in 80th after a three-round score of 250 (88-83-79).
Sophomore Devin Edwards finished right behind Huang in 81st after a three-round total of 252 (94-77-81). Edwards fired a season-best 77 in round two and freshman Kalli Jennings rounded out the scoring with a three-round score of 253 (91-87-75). Jennings had a stellar final round score of 75 (three-over par) tying her teammate Kwon for best round of the day.
Oklahoma State, ranked 10th in the nation, won the tournament by 20 strokes shooting a three-round total of 868. The 35th ranked player in the country from Kansas, Yupaporn Kawinpakorn ran away with the individual honors at six-under par, including a second round 67.
North Texas will return to the course at the Texas Tech Invitational April 8-9 in Lubbock.
