DENTON – North Texas women's basketball travels to Kansas State for a 7 p.m. matchup Friday inside Bramlage Coliseum.
About the Mean Green (1-1, 0-0 C-USA)
UNT held their own against No. 11/8 Texas Nov. 12 at home, falling 64-54, while keeping the contest close trailing by just four points in the final five minutes. Terriell Bradley tallied a team-high 18 points, and Trena Mims registered 16. The Mean Green outscored the Longhorns in two quarters.
UNT opened the 2018-19 season with a dominant 82-35 win over Mid-America Christian Nov. 3 inside The Super Pit. Bradley led all scorers with 19 points. Charlene Shepherd was impactful in her Mean Green debut with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Mims registered 12 points and eight boards. The UNT defense held the Evangels to 17-percent shooting from the field and collected 60 rebounds along with a dozen steals.

K-State won their season opener, 61-46, over Omaha at home Nov. 12. Jasauen Beard scored a game-high 12 points, while Rachel Ranke added 11, and Peyton Williams posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. K-State outscored Omaha 39-16 in the second half to pick up the victory.
A pair of Wildcats were named to the Big 12 Preseason All-Conference Team in senior guard Kayla Goth and junior forward Peyton Williams as K-State was picked to finish eighth in the 10-team league.
In 2017-18, the Wildcats finished the season at 18-16 and went 7-11 in the Big 12. The squad competed in the WNIT and secured wins against Saint Louis and Utah before falling to UC Davis to conclude the year.

DENTON (Nov. 19, 2017) - North Texas fell to Kansas State 55-54 Sunday afternoon at the Super Pit after the Wildcats rallied late and converted on a free throw with 13 seconds left in the game to take the lead.
Terriell Bradley had a game-high 15 points for the Mean Green.
With under a minute left in the game, K-State guard Rachel Ranke hit a three-point shot that put the Wildcats up 54-52. Bradley answered with a drive into the paint to force a layup and tie the game. K-State drew a foul with 13 seconds left in the game, making only one of the two free throws. The Wildcats were able to escape Denton after a missed jumper by Micayla Buckner at the buzzer.
In her second career start, guard Trena Mims was able to showcase her skills by scoring 11 points in 30 minutes of play.
Bradley moves past Mitchell
Against Texas Nov. 12, Terriell Bradley nailed a 3-pointer in the second quarter for the 88thof her Mean Green career to surpass Head Coach Jalie Mitchell for seventh place all-time in the UNT record books. Bradley is now seven away from tying Delaine Taylor for the sixth spot.
Bradley's FTs moving up the charts
With 291 free throws made, Bradley sits in fifth place all-time in program history. She needs 11 more to tie Hall of Famer Rosalyn Reades for fourth. Not out of sight is the No. 1 spot, held by Head Coach Jalie Mitchell who sank 411 throughout her career. Bradley made 164 from the line last season and now needs 127 to dethrone Mitchell.
The Mean Green Defense
UNT led the country in field goal percentage defense following the opening week of the 2018-19 season and now sits just outside the top 25. The Mean Green are holding opponents to 28.3-percent shooting from the field, good enough for 26thin the nation. The Mean Green held Mid-America Christian to 11 field goals on 64 tries, including 5-of-24 on three-pointers and kept Texas at a respectable 39.7-percent.
Shepherd making early impact
Charlene Shepherd has not shied away from her first contests in a Mean Green jersey as the freshman is averaging 10 points and five rebounds while hitting nine of her 17 shot attempts. Against Mid-America Christian, Shepherd was just short of a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds. Her play in the fourth kept UNT rolling as she hit all four of her attempts in the quarter.
Shepherd did not back down from the much bigger Longhorns while putting up seven shots for five points in 12 minutes of action.
