Seniors Lead Way To Open Trinity Forest Invite
9/23/2018 8:32:00 PM | Men's Golf
DALLAS — After a somewhat disappointing finish the last time out for the UNT men's golf team, head coach Brad Stracke's two trusted seniors put the Mean Green in position to compete for a tournament title as UNT shot a 9-under-par 275 to open the Trinity Forest Invitational on Sunday at Trinity Forest Golf Club.
Thomas Rosenmueller fired a 5-under 66, while Jordan Sanders shot a 4-under 67 to put them in ties for fourth and sixth place, respectively, after the first of three rounds, and UNT sits in third place, two shots back of Baylor and host SMU, who are tied for first at 11-under par.
"I'm really proud of how the guys played today," Stracke said. "Thomas and Jordan played really solid. We're ready to get after it the next two days."
Rosenmueller and Sanders each had six birdies to help put the Mean Green in prime position heading into Round 2 Monday morning. The Mean Green will tee off at 10:17 a.m., and be paired with Baylor and SMU.
Freshman Henri Renouard shot a 1-under 70 in his collegiate debut and is tied for 21st place, while sophomores Viktor Forslund and Vitek Novak, who is competing as an individual, each shot 1-over par.
The tournament will conclude on Tuesday and fans can head to Dallas to support the Mean Green or keep track of the tournament at GolfStat.com.
