DENTON – North Texas women's basketball plays host to their first Conference USA matchup against UTEP Thursday at 7 p.m. inside The Super Pit.
About the Mean Green (9-5, 2-0 C-USA)
North Texas is on a five-game win streak and has compiled victories in seven of their last eight games.
Terriell Bradley's scoring average of 18.4 leads the Mean Green and is third within Conference USA. Anisha George contributes 11.1 points per contest along with a team-best 7.1 rebounds to rank seventh in the league. Trena Mims adds 7.4 points and hands out 3.6 assists to sit sixth in C-USA while her assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.2 ranks second.
The Mean Green are outscoring their opponents by an average of 9.2 points while shooting 40.2-percent from the field compared to 37.8 from their foes. UNT has put up a total of 887 shots this season as their rivals have fired up 760. However, the opponents have totaled 295 attempts from the free throw line compared to 252 from the Mean Green.

UTEP opened conference play with a 73-60 win at UTSA Jan. 5. The Miners began the season with a pair of wins before compiling an eight-game losing streak which ended Dec. 20 with a victory over Western Illinois.
The Mean Green and UTEP share a common opponent this season in CSU Bakersfield. UNT defeated the Roadrunners, 71-59, Dec. 21 inside The Pit, while the Miners also took a win from CSUB in a 53-47 victory at home Nov. 14.
Zuzanna Pac tops UTEP with a 12.9 scoring average and also contributes 5.6 rebounds, two assists, and 0.7 blocks per game. The second-leading scorer for the Miners, Ariona Gill, has sat out the past two games due to injury. DENTON (Jan. 28, 2018) - The North Texas women's basketball team rallied from behind to take a lead late but it only lasted momentarily as the Miners made a key 3-pointer to retake the lead and eventually win, 50-48.
Terriell Bradley led the way for the Mean Green with a game-high 22 points in 38 minutes. With five seconds left in the game, Bradley had an opportunity to give the Mean Green the lead but a missed layup in heavy traffic sealed the game for the Miners.
One more for six
The Mean Green are currently on a five-game win streak beginning with the Dec. 16 win at Xavier (La.). If North Texas is able to defeat UTEP Jan. 10, it will be the first time the program has strung together six victories since head coach Jalie Mitchell's senior season in 2001-02 where the team did it on two occasions. During the stretch, her team defeated Middle Tennessee, Louisiana-Lafayette, New Mexico State, New Orleans, and Denver twice for the first set of six before losing to South Alabama. The squad picked it right back up with another half dozen wins against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, South Alabama, and two wins apiece versus Western Kentucky and New Orleans.
The race to 50
With 49 wins on her resume since leading the Mean Green, head coach Jalie Mitchell is approaching the big 5-0. The next victory will place Mitchell alongside former coaches Judy Nelson and Tina Slinker in the 50-win club. If Mitchell is to attain her 50thwithin the next 13 contests, she will become the fastest to achieve the honor.
George named C-USA Player of the Week
Anisha George was voted the Conference USA Women's Basketball Player of the Week by the league office Jan. 9.
George's dominant play helped North Texas to its first-ever 2-0 start in Conference USA play as the junior post averaged 18.5 points and 8.5 rebounds. Her game-high nine rebounds along with 12 points at LA Tech Jan. 3 led UNT to their first win in Ruston, while her career and game-high 25 points and eight rebounds at Southern Miss Jan. 5 also handed the Mean Green their first win in Hattiesburg. George went 17-of-23 from the field in the victories for an astounding field goal percentage of 73.9-percent.
Defensively, the junior post was extremely effective, especially against the Lady Eagles. George held the opposing post players to a collective 11 points, including zero from their second-leading scorer, while committing zero fouls in the contest.
The St. Croix, Virgin Islands, native leads the league in field goal percentage (62.5-percent) to rank 10thoverall in the nation. Within the conference, she also sits sixth in blocks per game (1.1) and seventh in rebounds (7.1).
George becomes the fourth Mean Green to achieve the weekly honor and joins her teammate, three-time recipient Terriell Bradley, as well as one-time honorees Kelsey Criner and Breanna Dawkins.

Trena Mims sits second in C-USA in assist-to-turnover ratio with her 51 helpers and 23 miscues. Eleven of her turnovers have occurred between three contests, while Mims has registered two games with zero mistakes in 26 minutes of play against Utah State Dec. 8 and Oklahoma Panhandle Dec. 29 and also has six games with only a single turnover.
She set a career-high in assists with nine versus Houston Baptist Dec. 5 and has twice dished out six. Her total against HBU is the third-best performance within C-USA this season.
Doubling up
The Mean Green have compiled four double-doubles throughout the 2018-19 season with three coming from junior post Anisha George and the other by redshirt sophomore forward Madison Townley. George's trio of double-doubles ranks third in C-USA.

Bradley made 164 from the line last season and now needs 62 to dethrone Mitchell, which comes out to be 4.4 makes per game throughout the remainder of the regular season.

The Mean Green have compiled a lowly 12-26 record throughout program history in overtime games, but following the 83-76 win over Missouri State Dec. 1, UNT has now strung together six straight victories involving extra periods. The win over the Bears was just the third time in program history UNT has found success inside The Super Pit in OT, as the team is now at 3-10 at home. Two seasons ago, North Texas pulled out wins in each of their four overtime contests, and went one-for-one in 2017-18.

Following the 93-52 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State, UNT finished their nonconference schedule two games above .500 at 7-5. It took the Mean Green (9-5, 2-0 C-USA) eight tries to finally win at Southern Miss (8-7, 0-2 C-USA), but an 18-4 run in the third quarter was the key to putting away the Lady Eagles. Southern Miss entered the contest leading the league in turnovers forced at nearly 19 a game, but North Texas pressured the home team into 27 of their own miscues and turned those into 28 points. Only four points were secured off of UNT's 16 turnovers.
Terriell Bradley joined George in double figures with 11 points by knocking down 9-of-10 from the free throw line. Madison Townley tallied game-high rebound honors alongside George with eight, and Trena Mims was the contest's assist leader with four.
