Mean Green Host Familiar Foe

DENTON — For the first time since they left the Sun Belt Conference after the 2012-2013 season, the Mean Green are facing the Little Rock Trojans at 5 p.m. CT on Saturday at the Super Pit.
The game will be broadcasted on the Mean Green Sports Network (88.1 FM & 95.3 FM) and on CUSA.tv. The voice of the Mean Green, Dave Barnett and Hank Dickenson will have the call.
North Texas (3-6) is coming off a 82-80 loss to Oklahoma on Thursday at home. The Mean Green led the Sooners for 29 minutes but a late 3-pointer sealed the victory for OU. Little Rock (5-4) is playing its first game in a week. Last Saturday, they lost to East Tennessee State at home, 67-63.
Saturday's game is the backend of a doubleheader with the Mean Green women's basketball who face Louisiana at 3 p.m. at the Super Pit.
DRAPE JUICE
North Texas' DJ Draper aka "Drape Juice" is 17-of-30 from deep this year. As of Friday, his .567 3-point field goal percentage is the best in Conference USA for players who have attempted at least 10 3-pointers. He has made 17 3-pointers, which is just 17 less than he made all of last year. Draper is on track to finish the regular season with 60 3-pointers made. His single-season career-best was in 2017-18 as a redshirt sophomore when he made 49 3-pointers at a .415 percent clip. He has made seven 3-pointers over the last two games and is shooting 70 percent from deep over the last two games. On Thursday versus OU, Draper made his 100th career 3-pointer. He enters Saturday's game have made 102 for his career.
CLOSING IN ON TOP 10
Redshirt sophomore Umoja Gibson enters Saturday's game with 126 career 3-pointers. He is just 10 away from Leonard Hopkins' (2004-05) 136 career 3-pointers which ranks 10th all-time in program history.

Since the start of last season, North Texas is 11-1 when Zachary Simmons makes five or more field goals in a game. Over the last three years, UNT is 15-4 when he makes five or more field goals. They are 2-0 this season. He went 6-for-9 versus Oklahoma Christian on 11/5 and 5-5 on Monday at UT Arlington.

North Texas' leading 3-point shooters Umoja Gibson and DJ Draper have made a combined 40 3-pointers through the Mean Green's first nine games at a combined 45 percentage. The rest of the entire team has combined to make just 27 3-pointers at just a combined 23 percent clip.
