UNT Wraps Day 2 In Houston
2/18/2019 4:38:00 PM | Men's Golf
HUMBLE, Texas – Viktor Forslund and Kristof Ulenaers led the way for the Mean Green on Monday in Round 2 of The All-American Intercollegiate at the Golf Club of Houston as North Texas will head into the final round of the tournament on Tuesday in ninth place at 21-over-par.
Forslund shot a 2-over 74 to enter the final day at 3-over-par in a tie for 22nd place, while Ulenaers fired a team-best 73 to end the day at 4-over for the tournament in a tie for 31st. Freshman Henri Renouard, who is competing as an individual, is at 5-over-par and is tied for 36th.
"We were in good shape going into Hole 5, which was our 14th hole today," UNT coach Brad Stracke said. "We had a few bad swings that turned into big numbers. Unfortunately, that's part of golf, and we will get better throughout the spring."
Sam Houston State is atop the leaderboard at 3-under, while co-host Houston and No. 37 Baylor are tied for second at 2-over.
The Mean Green are scheduled to begin the third and final round on Tuesday morning, when inclement weather could be a factor.
"The weather forecast is not favorable for tomorrow, but I hope we have the opportunity to play the final round and pass a lot of teams," Stracke said.
