DENTON - Following a strong showing in their one and only fall tournament, the Mean Green men's golf team earned a No. 7 ranking in Golfweek's initial men's golf collegiate national poll.
The high ranking comes on the heels of a sixth-place finish at their home tournament, the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational, earlier this week at their home course, Maridoe Golf Club - one of the toughest courses in the country.
North Texas checked in behind No. 1 Oklahoma, Pepperdine, Texas, Oklahoma State, Baylor and Texas Tech in the poll. All of those teams competed in the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational.
"It's always nice to be ranked in the top 10," UNT head coach Brad Stracke said. "The team has worked diligently this fall and will have to continue to be committed in the offseason."
UNT will not compete again until Feb. 15-16, at the All-American Intercollegiate in Houston.
