DENTON – North Texas softball coach Rodney DeLong officially announced the signing of former Texas Tech pitcher Gigi Wall to join the Mean Green as a graduate transfer for the 2020-21 academic year.
Â
Originally from Marlow, OK, Wall spent one season in Lubbock prior to the COVID-19 outbreak. In her lone season for the Red Raiders she made eight starts and 13 appearances, posting a pair of wins and a 2.02 ERA in 41.2 innings of work. The righty held opponents to a .202 batting average which was second-best on the Red Raiders pitching staff.
Â
Before her lone season with Texas Tech Wall spent four years at Oklahoma City University, three in competition while earning a medical redshirt as a senior in 2018. Wall was a member of two NAIA National Championship teams in 2016 and 2017 and posted a 79-5 career record for the Stars, including a perfect 33-0 season in 2017. Wall posted a career ERA in OKC of 0.77 while allowing just 60 earned runs in 545.1 innings pitched.
Â
During her three seasons in Oklahoma City Wall was a first team NAIA All-America selection in 2016 and 2017 and a second team All-America selection in 2018, while also garnering NFCA NAIA All-American honors in 2016 and 2017. Gigi was named the NAIA World Series MVP in both 2016 and 2017 and earned All-NAIA Southwest Region and All-Sooner Athletic Conference first team honors in all three seasons. In 2017, Wall was named the Sooner Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year and in 2016 she garnered the honor of Freshman of the Year.
Â
Wall was a four-year letter winner from Marlow High School and recorded a 27-4 record with a 0.59 ERA as a senior for coach Brian Miller. She earned an All-State nod from the Oklahoma Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association and was the Duncan Banner All-Area Pitcher of the Year in her junior and senior seasons.
Â
Wall joins the 2020 North Texas signing class, bringing the class total to 11 signees. She joins the Mean Green as the second graduate transfer during DeLong's tenure and the current signing period.
