DENTON - The UNT men's golf program added a new piece for the 2022-23 season, as head coach Brad Stracke signed Philippe Thorin on Wednesday.
Thorin will join the program in August and will arrive on campus with plenty of accolades and abilities for Stracke and his staff to mold.
"I am beyond excited to sign Philippe," Stracke said. "He has incredible upside with his power and accuracy. Philip hits it longer than any high school player I have ever signed."
Thorin, who hails from Quito, Ecuador, has a World Amateur Golf Ranking of 713 and has had a run of success on the junior level.
He finished second at this year's Campeonato Sudamericano Juvenil, had back-to-back fifth-place finishes at the Abierto de Arrayanes Country Club and I Campeonato Nacional Match Play and carded two top-30 finishes this year in the United States at the Junior Orange Bowl International and the Optimist International Junior Golf Championship. Out of his 25 counting events for WAGR standings, he has 18 top-10 finishes.
