After going 3-3 over the first six games of the 2021 season, the North Texas softball team will be playing at home in Lovelace Stadium for the first time this year. The Mean Green welcome the Wildcats of Abilene Christian to Denton after going 2-2 over the weekend at the Blizzard Challenge in Conroe.
Lovelace Stadium will only be open to individuals on the team pass list, a small number of current UNT students and Mean Green Scholarship Fund Members. The attendance for softball games is the exact same as the policy set in place for all Olympic Sports, fans can catch the action from the outfield areas. If fans want to follow along, the game will be streamed on CUSA.tv with Mercedes Zaragosa and Amanda Bachelder on the call and livestats will be available at MeanGreenStats.com
The Mean Green and Wildcats are meeting for the ninth time in the history of the two programs, with North Texas holding a a 5-3 series advantage with a current streak of three wins. North Texas won all three matchups between the two teams during the shortened 2020 campaign, winning 6-0 in Denton last season and 5-2 and 11-3 in Norman, Okla. during the Courtyard Marriott Tournament, Abilene Christian is currently on a two-game skid.
The teams last met in Denton during the North Texas Invitational last season, in that matchup Tarah Hilton blasted a pair of homers as the Mean Green won 6-0.
