Trautwein Named C-USA Pitcher of the Week

DALLAS – Senior Hope Trautwein has been named the Conference USA Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Trautwein earns the honors for the 10^th time in her career and third time during the 2021 campaign, previously earning it February 15 and April 12. It is also the third time that Trautwein has earned the honor three times during the same season (2019 and 2020).

During the four-game sweep of Southern Miss, the senior threw 13.0 innings, allowed just two earned runs and struck out 21 batters over two starts in the circle. In the series opener against the Golden Eagles, Trautwein tossed the 46th complete game of her career and allowed just two hits and struck out nine while allowing just one runner to reach second base in a shutout performance for her ninth win of the season.

In the third game of the series Trautwein responded to allowing a two-run home run with two outs in the first by throwing five consecutive scoreless innings, keeping the Mean Green within striking distance. In the fourth inning, the senior posted back-to-back strikeouts to end a bases-loaded threat that began with just one out to keep the deficit at two runs. North Texas would go on to score three runs in the seventh for the walk-off win.
