Mean Green In Mix At Loaded Aggie Invitational

BRYAN, Texas - Senior Viktor Forslund shot an even-par 72 to lead the way for the North Texas men's golf team on Friday in the opening round of The Aggie Invitational, as the Mean Green shot an opening-round 297 to sit in sixth place heading into Saturday's second round at Traditions Golf Club. They are one shot clear of a three-way tie for seventh between No. 25 Texas Tech, Nebraska and No. 36 Baylor.
The Mean Green spent the entire day in the top-third of the leaderboard in a field that features eight top-50 teams, including No. 1 Oklahoma and No. 5 Texas, as they also had strong opening rounds from freshmen Vicente Marzilio and Nikhil Gopal, who are 1-over and 2-over, respectively.
"I'm proud of the boys today for playing some solid golf in some really tough conditions," UNT head coach Brad Stracke said. "Vicente, Viktor and Nikhil stepped up big today. We are right in the mix and need to continue to bring the energy the next two rounds."
The Mean Green will be paired with Louisville and Houston in Saturday's opening round, and fans can follow the action live on Golfstat while also following the program on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram throughout the season.
