Mean Green set to send three players to San Antonio
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – The North Texas women's tennis team will return to action Friday when they travel to San Antonio, Texas, to compete in the UIW Invitational.
The Mean Green will send three student-athletes, Olivia Halvorsen, Matilde Morais and Kexuan Zhou to compete in the weekend-long tournament.
Halvorsen and Zhou will compete in tandem in the doubles competition while the trio will all compete individually in singles play.
"I am looking forward to this opportunity for our players," assistant coach Rodrigo de Almeida said. "Matilde is starting to play her best tennis and this competition will certainly help her development. Olivia has been showing incredible growth, and I believe this weekend she can find the confidence and belief she is looking for to play to her potential. Kexuan will be the most experienced player from our team, and I am excited to see her leadership skills both on and off the courts. She has a lot to gain from this weekend and I think she will take great advantage of the opportunity"
The tournament will consist of three doubles draws as well as six singles draws over the course of Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
It will be the penultimate tournament of the fall season for the Mean Green before they travel to Oklahoma next weekend for the Tulsa Invitational in the final competition of the semester.
