Marzilio Leads Way For Men's Golf at Trinity Forest

DALLAS - UNT junior Vicente Marzilio fired his second 5-under-par 67 in as many days on Tuesday to finish the Trinity Forest Invitational at 11-under in a tie for second place to lead the Mean Green to a 5-under day and an eighth-place finish at even-par.
Marzilio had a bogey-free round on Tuesday with five birdies after just one bogey in Monday's second round to finish at 71-67-67 and claim his best finish since he won the Conference USA individual championship at the end of his freshman season.
"Congratulations to Vicente Marzilio," UNT head coach Brad Stracke said. "He played some exceptional golf this week. The team will continue to improve and work on the necessary skills to perform at a higher level."
The Mean Green climbed one spot on the leaderboard in Tuesday's final round after moving up five spots on Monday. They finished at even-par after a 5-under performance for the day to finish in eighth place out of the 17 teams in the field. Tucker Allen and Nikhil Gopal each shot 1-under 71s to close out the event on Tuesday, as Gopal was making his season debut.
UNT will wrap up the fall slate of its schedule at the Little Rock Invitational on Oct. 17-18, in Little Rock, Arkansas.
