UNT welcomes NAIA foe to the Super Pit to kick off the season
DENTON, TEXAS – North Texas women's basketball is set to begin a new season this Thursday night as they face off against Texas A&M-Texarkana inside the Super Pit.
The Mean Green, with a roster consisting of six returners and nine newcomers, are excited to start a new campaign under eighth-year head coach Jalie Mitchell.
Last season, UNT became the first team since 2002 to earn a bid to the Women's NIT after posting a 17-13 overall record and advancing to the semifinal of the C-USA Tournament. The Mean Green finished just one possession shy of clinching a berth in the title game for the first time since joining C-USA.
The Mean Green will be led this season by senior Quincy Noble who led UNT in scoring with 14.4 points per game a season ago. A Second Team All C-USA selection, Noble landed on the Preseason All-Conference team earlier this month and is expected to have a big 22-23 campaign.
