Men's Basketball Hosts Top 50 Showdown Thursday

DENTON — It's been nearly a month since the North Texas men's basketball team played a home game but that hasn't slowed down the Mean Green and Thursday, they return to their Super Pit riding a five-game winning streak and welcome Florida Atlantic to Denton for a top 50 showdown.
UNT (10-1, 1-0) and FAU (11-1, 1-0) are scheduled to tip-off Thursday at 7 p.m. CT. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield on The Varsity Network app.
Thursday's contest features Conference USA's top two ranked NET teams. North Texas enters Thursday's league game ranked No. 42 in the NET and Florida Atlantic is ranked No. 13.
In 2018 the NCAA replaced its Rating Percentage Index with the NET for Division I basketball. The metric considers: results, strength of schedule, location, scoring margin, offensive and defensive efficiency and quality of wins and losses using the existing quadrant system.

Following Thursday's game, North Texas will remain home and host FIU on Saturday for a 3 p.m. CT scheduled tip-off.
