Bell, Perry Voted NABC All-District

DENTON — The North Texas men's basketball team's senior forward Thomas Bell was voted National Association of Basketball Coaches First Team All-District 11 Tuesday and teammate Tylor Perry was tabbed second team.
Bell is the second Mean Green men's basketball player in the last two years to earn NABC First Team All-District honors and just the second player in program history to earn the first team distinct honor. UNT 2021 graduate Javion Hamlet was selected first team all-district in 2020 and again last season in 2021 and was the first player in program history to receive the first team nod.
The NABC honor is voted on by NABC-member coaches across NCAA Division I.
Bell this season has done it all for North Texas and led them to a so far 24-win season, which is tied for the most wins in a single season in program history. The third-year forward is averaging 12.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and has a team leading 74 assists. Bell is the UNT active career leader in points, rebounds, assists, blocks and steals. He ended this regular season as just one of 16 players in the nation with 354+ points, 193+ rebounds, 68+ assists and 26+ blocks. Bell was a preseason all-conference selection by the league's coaches and then a postseason all-conference honoree as well.
Perry, who is in his first season with the Mean Green, is averaging a team-leading 13.6 points per game and has made game-winning 3-pointers in the final seconds of four league games. Perry is just one of four players in the nation who leads their respective team in scoring while coming off the bench.
In the nation among reserves, Perry ranks first in total minutes played (848), second points scored (394), second in 3-pointers (68), third in made free throws (96). He was named the 2022 C-USA Sixth Player of the Year and led all Conference USA reserves during the regular season in minutes played, points scored, 3-pointers, field goals made and free throws made. He ranked third in the league in assists and third in steals among reserves.
