
Softball Falls to No. 10 Oklahoma State

DENTON, Texas – North Texas softball fell to No. 10 Oklahoma State 4-2 at Lovelace Stadium Tuesday night. The Mean Green rallied in the fifth inning to tie the game at 2-2 before the Cowgirls added another two runs in the top of the sixth inning.

"We started off a little flat but as time went on, we got a little more comfortable. We played pretty good down the stretch. Hate that we lost but we played hard and we still have some things to work on and get better at. We're looking forward to a big series this weekend."
RECAP
Oklahoma State scored two runs in the top of the first to start the game off and jump out to the early lead. North Texas and starting pitcher Skylar Savage settled down and held the Cowgirls scoreless through the next four innings.
The Mean Green (14-5) struggled offensively through the first four innings before they added two runs on two hits in the bottom of the fifth. Cierra Simon reached on a single before Lexi Cobb tied the game at 2-2 on a homer to right center.
Oklahoma State responded with four singles in the top of the sixth that plated two runs to retake the lead 4-2.
Savage (4-2) was charged with the loss and pitched 5.1 innings with two strikeouts.
Kalei Christensen led the Mean Green at the plate going 2-for-3 with a walk. Cobb continued her tear on offense and finished with the homer and two RBI.
Kelly Maxwell pitched a complete game for the Cowgirls (17-5), finishing with two runs, four hits and seven strikeouts in a complete game. She improved to 7-0 on the year.
Chelsea Alexander spearheaded the Cowgirls offense going 2-for-4 on the evening and scored two of the Cowgirls' four runs.

UNT will host Florida Atlantic on Friday at 6 PM CT at Lovelace Stadium in Denton for its second conference series of the season. The broadcast will be on ESPN+.
