UNT Travels To UTEP In Regular Season Finale

EL PASO — The North Texas men's basketball team will aim to conclude the 2021-22 regular season on Saturday by tying the program record for single-season victories (24).
The (RV) Mean Green (23-4, 16-1 C-USA) are in El Paso set to face UTEP (17-12, 10-7 C-USA) on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT from the Don Haskins Center. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and the Mean Green Sports Network, which can be found on The Varsity Network.
The program single season win record North Texas is looking to tie is 24 set by the 2009-10 team who reached the 2010 NCAA Tournament.
UNT is coming off of a 59-48 victory at UTSA Thursday night to claim its 23rd win of the season. The program record for wins is 24 set by the 2009-10 North Texas team that reached the NCAA Tournament.
Thursday's win over the Roadrunners was also the Mean Green's 15th win in a row, which broke the school record that had stood since 1978. Thursday's win also improved North Texas to 9-0 in road games this season. They are the only undefeated road team in the country.
North Texas will face a Miners team Saturday that they faced on Feb. 7 in Denton and beat 66-58 behind an 18-point and 7-rebound performance by Thomas Bell. Four UNT players scored in double figures in the earlier win over UTEP, which was the ninth win in row of this current 15-game winning streak.
The 2022 Conference USA Men's Basketball Championship begins Thursday for the Mean Green from the Star in Frisco. UNT is reigning league tournament champs.
GOING FOR 16 IN A ROW
UNT enters Saturday on a 15-game winning streak. It's the longest winning streak in pro- gram history and the longest since they won a program record 14 in a row at the end of the 1977-78 season.
ROAD WARRIORS
UNT is 9-0 in road games this year. UNT is the only undefeated road team in the country. Dating back to last season, North Texas has won 14 of its last 16 road games. Since 2010 there have been nine teams that have finished a season undefeated in road games

North Texas has held all 17 conference opponents its faced this season from reaching its scoring average. Southern Miss is the only one to come within single digits of reaching their respective scoring average. UNT has held its 17 league opponents to an average of 18.8 points below their respective scoring averages this season.
GUARDING THE ARC
Headed into Saturday, North Texas leads the nation in fewest 3-pointers given up per game. Opponents are only making 4.0 3-pointers per game. In conference UNT is only giving up 3.8 3-pointers per game.
North Texas' defense is on pace to be the best overall single season scoring defense in C-USA history.
