DENTON - UNT softball will host Stephen F. Austin Tuesday evening at Lovelace Stadium. The Mean Green (23-8, 12-3) are coming off a conference win over UTSA last weekend and will play the Ladyjacks (19-17, 10-2) for the first time this season after the game in Nacogdoches was postponed due to inclement weather.Â
HISTORY AGAINST OPPONENT
Â
UNT has a 16-5 record against Stephen F. Austin all-time and have won nine straight against the Ladyjacks. The last time these two programs faced off was last season in Denton when North Texas won both matchups in the North Texas Invitational tournament.
Â
North Texas won game one in a run-rule 9-1 win in five innings after an offensive explosion to start the game. The Mean Green scored eight of their nine runs in the bottom of the first inning. Tayla Evans started with a three-run homer and Molly Rainey added a grand slam later in the inning to make it 8-1.
Â
In the second game of the weekend between the two opponents, UNT slid by with a 2-1 victory that was dominated by defense. GiGi Wall started the game and pitched for six innings, allowing only one run before Hope Trautwein relieved her in the seventh inning to record the save. They combined for seven strikeouts and only six hits for the game.
