DENTON, Texas – North Texas fell to No. 1 Oklahoma 10-0 in six innings, Wednesday evening at Lovelace Stadium. North Texas fell behind early and could never get the bats going on offense.
QUOTING HEAD COACH RODNEY DELONG
"Playing in front of this type of crowd is absolutely a good experience. If we make a regional, then we probably have to go to Norman anyways. This was good for us. I'd rather play them than play somebody that isn't very good. It's better for us to get a challenge and get beat."
RECAP:
Oklahoma (39-1, 8-1) jumped out to an early lead with a solo homer in the top of the first.
The Sooners added two more in each of the third and fourth innings to extend the lead to 5-0 through four innings.
Oklahoma then added another five runs in the sixth inning behind two more home runs to widen the lead to 10-0 and finish the run-rule.
The Mean Green (25-11, 13-5) could never get anything going on offense and registered only one hit on the night.
Skylar Savage (10-5) was charged the loss and pitched 4.0 innings before Ashley Peters came in in the fifth inning to pitch the last 2.0 innings.
Kailey Gamble registered the only hit for UNT with a double in the bottom of the fifth inning. She finished 1-for-2 at the plate.
Jordy Bahl (W, 17-1) pitched 5.0 innings and surrendered only one hit while striking out six batters before Hope Trautwein relieved her in the sixth inning. Trautwein struck out two batters and didn't surrender a hit in the final inning.
