
Softball Falls to Kansas in Game Three

LAWRENCE, Kansas – UNT fell to Kansas 9-4 in game three on Saturday at Arrocha Ballpark. The Mean Green recorded only five hits on the day after tallying 24 hits in the double-header on Friday.

"We were flat today. We can't sweep a series when we take a day off like we did today. Overall though we still accomplished winning a road series. On to the next one."

North Texas (27-12) struck first in the top of the first inning with a Cierra Simon solo blast to left field to take a 1-0 lead.
Kansas then took the lead in the bottom of the second with a four-run inning, scoring on two singles and one double.
It didn't take long for the Mean Green to respond as Christensen knocked in a run on an RBI double to start the scoring in the third inning. Two batters later, Kailey Gamble brought Christensen home on a single to center field to cut the deficit to 4-3. Molly Rainey then evened the game at 4-4 with a RBI sac fly.
In the third inning, Kansas (15-28) retook the lead on a solo homer to left center to make it 5-4.
The Jayhawks added four more runs in the bottom of the sixth to extend their lead to 9-4 on a pair of doubles and an RBI groundout.
Ashley Peters started the game for the Mean Green and pitched 1.1 innings before Skylar Savage (L, 11-6) came into the game in the second inning. Savage struck out five batters in 4.1 innings.
Simon led the Mean Green at the plate going 3-for-4 with two runs, one RBI, and one home run.
Kasey Hamilton (7-14) picked up the win as she pitched a complete game for the Jayhawks.
Haleigh Harper led Kansas going 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs and two RBI.

UNT will host Tarleton State at Lovelace Stadium at 6 PM CT on Wednesday, April 27. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
