DENTON, TX – North Texas softball hosts Tarleton State (27-19, 12-9 WAC) for a non-conference game on Wednesday, April 27 at 6 PM CT at Lovelace Stadium. The Mean Green (27-12, 13-5 CUSA) last played the Texans in the 2021 season in Stephenville, Texas when they split the double-header.
HISTORY AGAINST OPPONENT
UNT has a 1-1 record against Tarleton State all-time. The two programs met last season for a double-header for the only meetings in program history.
In the first game, RHP GiGi Wall pitched a complete game and struck out seven batters as she picked up her tenth win of the season. The Mean Green homered three times by Tuesday DerMargosian, Tayla Evans, and Tarah Hilton to score seven runs and win the game 7-2.
In the second game, Tarleton State evened the day with a 4-3 walk-off win. The Texans jumped out to an early lead before the game became a back-and-forth affair. North Texas scored two in the fifth to take the lead before Tarleton scored on an error to even the game in the bottom of the sixth. The Mean Green committed three errors in the game and Tarleton walked it off in the bottom of the seventh with back-to-back singles with the bases loaded.
UNT's TOP PERFORMERS
Junior infielder Saleen Donohoe hit her first-career grand slam as a member of the Mean Green against the Jayhawks this last weekend. It was the second grand slam of the season for North Texas. She finished the game 2-for-4 with one run, four RBI, and one home run. It was Donohoe's third home run of the season, and she has tallied 15 RBI, six runs, and 11 hits on the season.
Freshman Cierra Simon hit two more home runs against Kansas last weekend. Simon has five home runs in the last nine games after not recording a home run in the first 30 games. She has the second most runs for the Mean Green on the season (30) and leads the team with 15 stolen bases.
Freshman RHP Skylar Savage (11-6) leads the Mean Green pitching staff with eight complete games, 33 appearances, and 121.2 innings pitched.

North Texas will travel to Birmingham, Alabama to play UAB April 29-May 1 at Mary Bowers Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm CT on Friday and will be broadcast on CUSA.tv.
