BIRMINGHAM, AL – North Texas softball travels to play conference foe UAB (21-21, 9-8 CUSA) for its last road series of the regular season starting on Friday, April 29 at Mary Bowers Field. UNT will play a double-header on Friday at 3 PM and 5:30 PM before playing the third game of the series on Saturday at 1 PM. The Mean Green (28-12, 13-5 CUSA) split the regular season series with the Blazers in the 2021 season in Denton 2-2.
HISTORY AGAINST OPPONENT
UNT has a 7-12 record against UAB all-time. The two programs met last season for double-headers on back-to-back days at Lovelace Stadium. The Blazers took both games in the first double-header as they won 3-2 and 5-1.
North Texas then bounced back the next day to win both games in the second double-header, winning 6-1 and 2-1 to even the regular-season series.
The two teams then met again in the conference tournament in Bowling Green, Kentucky. North Texas fell 2-1 to UAB to give them their first loss of the conference tournament. UAB jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with a solo homer in the second inning before extending the lead to 2-0 in the sixth on an RBI single.
The Mean Green cut the deficit to one run in the sixth inning when Tuesday DerMargosian knocked in a run with an RBI double to center field, but the rally came up short as they fell 2-1.
UNT's TOP PERFORMERS
Senior infielder Tayla Evans led the Mean Green on offense in Wednesday's win over Tarleton State. Evans finished 1-for-1 with one run, one RBI, and two walks. Evans leads the team with 24 walks on the season and has the second highest on-base percentage on the team (.439).
Sophomore Lexi Cobb was the only North Texas player to record multiple hits against Tarleton State on Wednesday night. Cobb finished 2-for-3 with one RBI and one walk. Cobb owns the highest batting average on the season for the Mean Green (.364) as well as the highest on-base percentage (.449).
Junior LHP Ashley Peters (15-5) leads the Mean Green pitching staff in ERA (2.79), wins (15), and strikeouts (121). Peters picked up the win Wednesday night against Tarleton State as she finished with 5.0 innings pitched and held the Texans to one run.

North Texas will host Marshall for its final regular season series at Lovelace Stadium on May 6-8. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm CT on Friday, May 6 and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
