DENTON — Winners of 11 of their last 14, the UNT men's basketball team is back at the Super Pit Thursday night for a conference matchup with UTSA.
Thursday's game is scheduled tipoff at 8 p.m. CT and will be broadcast ESPNU and the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield on The Varsity Network app.
UNT (16-5, 7-3) enters Thursday's game coming off a 63-52 win at UAB that saw senior Kai Huntsberry score a game-high 19 points and dish out six assists, both league-best for him.
The Mean Green beat UTSA (7-14, 1-9) in San Antonio on Dec. 22, 78-54, to open league play. Junior Abou Ousmane scored a career-high 37 points in the win and grabbed 11 rebounds. Ousmane made 15-of-19 from the floor. The 15-made field goals are still the most by a C-USA player this season. His 37 points scored are still the second-most points scored by a player in the nation without attempting a 3-pointer.
His 37 points scored in the game are the second-most by a UNT player in the Grant McCasland era.
The win at UTSA was the Mean Green's third straight over the Roadrunners and their ninth in their last 11 meetings. McCasland has never lost at home to UTSA in his six years at the helm of North Texas.
Following Thursday night's game, UNT hosts UTEP on Saturday for a scheduled 5 p.m. CT start. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield on The Varsity Network app.
North Texas basketball fans can save up to 50 percent on tickets for the next two upcoming home games with an advance purchase as part of North Texas Athletics' Texas Two Step Mini Plan. By using the promotion, Mean Green fans can attend the next two men's basketball home games and pay as low as 16 dollars total before fees. The deal is almost a buy one and get one free.
