
Soccer Hosts Charlotte Thursday For Senior Day

DENTON — The Mean Green soccer team returns home Thursday to begin a three-match home stand that will wrap up the 2023 regular season.
North Texas will kick off against Charlotte at 7 p.m. CT. The match will be streamed on ESPN+. UNT is undefeated at home this season and has never conceded a goal at home to the 49ers, let alone lost.
On Sunday, East Carolina will travel down to the metroplex to face UNT at 1 p.m. CT. It'll be the first time the Mean Green and Pirates have faced each other. UNT will close its regular season against DFW rival SMU on Thursday Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. CT. All matchups will be aired on ESPN+.
While North Texas is undefeated at home this season, the 49ers have only lost once on the road (4-1-0). UNT is 8-1 all-time versus Charlotte and has never lost to them in the regular season.
Both teams are still trying to secure a spot for the 2023 American Athletic Conference Championship on October 31 – Nov. 5. Entering this matchup, North Texas (8-3-2, 2-2-2) ranks third in the American Conference West Division. Charlotte (6-5-4, 2-2-2) ranks third in the American Conference East Division.
The Mean Green secured their 29th consecutive winning season this past weekend. UNT and North Carolina are the only two schools that have had 20 consecutive winning seasons and never had a losing season. North Texas currently rank No.3 in the South Region on the United Soccer Coaches Poll. Additionally, they rank first in the American and 16th in the nation with 2.6 goals per match.
Summer Brown leads the team with seven goals, an all-time career high and ranks third overall in goals per game, first in points per game, and second in total goals in the AAC rankings.
Prior to Thursday's match versus Charlotte, all alcohol beverage prices will be on sale. Domestic beers will be $4 and craft beers will be $5 until kickoff.
Thursday, UNT will also be honoring five seniors: Avery Barron, Megan Brouse, Devyn Flannery, Rachel Roebuck and Madi Starrett.
