
Soccer Signs Large Class For Early Signing Period

DENTON — The UNT soccer team signed 12 incoming freshmen this week to national letters of intent in the early signing period. It's the Mean Green largest incoming freshman class in over 20 years.
The large class features a state champion, a top 25 keeper, multiple all-state honorees and MVPs. Eleven of the 12 signees are from the state of Texas.
The signees join a North Texas soccer team led by head coach John Hedlund who will be entering his 30th season as the Mean Green's head coach. Hedlund founded the program in 1995 and has never had a losing season. He's led UNT to 16 conference championships. He'll enter next season just seven wins shy of his 400th career win. It's a benchmark that has only been reached by 19 NCAA women's soccer head coaches ever.
Hicks Bishop, Lakeway, Texas, Goalkeeper
Incoming freshman goalkeeper Hicks Bishop attends IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. The central Texas native was tabbed by TopDrawerSoccer as one of the Top 25 goalkeepers in the class of 2024 in each of the last three seasons. Bishop helped lead IMG Academy to back-to-back Girls Academy League national semifinal appearances and a national runner-up finish.
Ella Bushko, Haslet, Texas, Defender
Incoming freshman Ella Bushko will join her high school teammate Alexis Miller in Denton. Bushko was a first team all-district honoree last season at VR Eaton High School and is a multiple time honoree. The Haslet native plays clubs soccer for the Dallas Texans.
Addison Christian, Frisco, Texas, Defender
Incoming freshman Addison Christian signs with the Mean Green after helping lead her Frisco High School team last year to the 2023 UIL Texas 5A State Finals and is the team's captain. The defender joins a program that has leaned heavily on its defense to lead it to its 16 conference championships.
Celine Diaz, Ft. Worth, Texas, Forward
Incoming freshman Celine Diaz was a 2023 TASCO 5A Second Team All-Region honoree last season at Birdville High School. The goal-scoring forward was also named her district's offensive player of the year last year in addition to first team all-district. She plays club soccer for Sting Black
Ramsey Fieker, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Midfield
The only non-Texan in this 12-person class, incoming freshman Ramsey Fieker from Tulsa, Oklahoma, led her Jenks High School to the 2023 OSSAA 6A State championship last year. Fieker is the second player in program history to come from Oklahoma. She plays club soccer for the Tulsa Soccer Club.
Emma King, Houston, Texas, Midfield
Incoming freshman Emma King was named to the 2023 TAPPS DI First Team All-State Team after last season. She was also voted to the Lethal Enforcer All-Texas Starting XI. King helped lead St. Pius X in Houston to its greatest single season in school history last year with back-to-back state final appearances. King was a 2022 TAPPS All-District honor the year prior.
Madison Lambert, Katy, Texas, Forward
One of two incoming freshmen in this class from Katy, Texas, Madison Lambert was a first team all-district honoree last year at Jordan High School as a junior. The forward plays club soccer for Albion Hurricanes.
Claire Niedermeier, Heath, Texas, Forward
Incoming freshman Claire Niedermeier from Rockwall Heath High School was named the District MVP and Offensive MVP last season. The then junior was high school teammates with UNT's Mia Bernard. Niedermeier was named by the Dallas Morning News to the All-Area team after last year. She plays club soccer for Sting Black.
Sadie Ozymy, Coppell, Texas, Forward
Incoming freshman Sadie Ozymy was named first team all-district last year and named by Star Local Media to the all-area second team. She scored a team-high 19 goals and had five assists last season for Coppell High School. They were the bi-district finalist. She plays club soccer for Dallas Texans.
Hannah Phillips, Katy, Texas, Defender
Incoming freshman Hannah Phillips from Katy High School has been named one of the top players for the class of 2024. She's a multiple 6A all-district and all-region honoree. The centerback plays club soccer for Albion Hurricanes.
Rydlii Rives, Arlington, Texas, Forward
Incoming freshman Rydlii Rives is a multiple all-district honoree. Rives' older sister Rylee plays soccer Navy. Rives plays club soccer for DKSC.
Beya Rosales, Prosper, Texas, Defender
Incoming freshman Beya Rosales is a consensus top 50 players in the state of Texas. She's a TopDrawerSoccer three-star recruit and the captain of the Prosper High School team. She was high school teammates with current UNT defender Sarah Peyton Webb. Rosales is a multi-time all-district and TASCO all-region honoree. Her older brother plays soccer for Dallas Baptist. She plays club soccer for the Dallas Texans.
