DENTON — On Saturday the UNT men's basketball team will play its final non-conference game before it begins its American conference slate.
The Mean Green host LSU Shreveport on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT at the Super Pit. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and the Mean Green Sports Network. Following Saturday's game, the Mean Green Collective will host a postgame meet-and-greet between gates A and B on the concourse level of the Super Pit. Mean Green fans can take photos and get autographs from the men's basketball team.
UNT (6-5) is coming of a 78-52 win over UT Arlington last week before the holiday break. North Texas had four players score in double figures including 26 from Jason Edwards. Mean Green newcomer Rondel Walker made his North Texas debut in the 26-point win and scored seven points and had three rebounds and two steals in just 14 minutes of action.
This will be just the second all-time meeting between North Texas and LSU Shreveport (9-1). The Mean Green beat the Pilots 73-35 back in 2021. Aaron Scott recorded his first career double-double in the previous matchup with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
North Texas enters Saturday's game having won 13 straight home games.
After Saturday's contest UNT travels to Wichita State on Jan. 4 to play its first ever American Athletic Conference league game. That game will be broadcast on ESPN2 and the Mean Green Sports Network and is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. CT.
