ATLANTA – Mikayla Smith matched her career high with two home runs as No. 24 UNT softball extended its winning streak to four games with a 3-1 victory against Georgia Tech on Sunday.
The streak is the best four-game start in North Texas softball history, besting 3-1 marks set in 2022, 2020, 2019 and 2013.
"It's great to get four wins on the road to open the season," head coach Rodney DeLong said. "I am happy with how we played but we still have a ways to go. I am however excited about the potential of this group."
Smith posted a team-high 1.811 OPS for the weekend, with five hits in 11 at-bats with three home runs, six RBI, four runs and two walks.
Ashley Peters tallied her second win of the weekend in an 85-pitch complete game, allowing zero earned runs on three hits with three strikeouts. The performance was the ninth complete game of her UNT career and second of the season-opening tournament.
