DENTON — Winners of eight of its last nine, the UNT men's basketball team hosts Middle Tennessee Thursday at Super Pit with just two games remaining before the 2023 Conference USA Championship.
The Mean Green (23-6, 14-4) are scheduled to tipoff with the Blue Raiders (18-11, 11-7) at 7 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network and Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield on the Varsity Network app.
North Texas heads into the final week of the regular season locked in as the No. 2 seed in the upcoming conference tournament, which will be held once again at the Star in Frisco. With the No. 2 seeding, the Mean Green have earned a first round bye and will open the 11-team single elimination tournament on March 9.
UNT has won five in a row over Middle Tennessee. It's the Mean Green's longest active winning streak over a league opponent, tied with its five-game winning streak over FIU. On Jan. 7, North Texas beat the Blue Raiders on the road, 56-51, after making a 19-point comeback. UNT is just one of two teams in the nation and the only C-USA school to win at Middle Tennessee over the last two seasons.
Last season when North Texas hosted Middle Tennessee, they beat the Blue Raiders, 70-63, and the win was the first of 15 straight for UNT. Tylor Perry poured in a then career-high 25 points in the seven-point home win.
Following Thursday's game versus the Blue Raiders, North Texas concludes the regular season Saturday with a home game against Western Kentucky at 2 p.m. CT.
All-Session passes to the men and women's 2023 C-USA Championship are available now. Mean Green fans can purchase passes here.
