Softball Hosts UTSA in Conference Showdown

DENTON – UNT softball continues its longest homestand of the season on Friday against UTSA at 6 p.m. for a Conference USA series at Lovelace Stadium. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
North Texas (16-9, 2-1) enters the weekend after a doubleheader sweep of Texas A&M-Commerce on Tuesday. Ashley Peters and Skylar Savage led the Mean Green from the circle after both recorded complete-game victories with zero earned runs allowed over 12 innings.
UNT leads UTSA (6-19, 2-1) in the all-time series 25-13 and are unbeaten in its last 12 home games against the Roadrunners, dating back to April 11, 2015. North Texas has outscored its league foe 53-20 in this period.
McKenzie Wagoner was named Conference USA Pitcher of the Week on Monday after she tallied 18.0 innings, 14 strikeouts and a 0.78 ERA across two complete-game wins at Louisiana Tech. She is currently ranked top five in the conference in wins, strikeouts, ERA, shutouts and batting average against.
Kailey Gamble is ranked fourth in the country and first in C-USA with 11 home runs. She reached the mark faster than any player in North Texas history. Gamble also moved into a tie for fourth place in the UNT record book with her 30th career home run on Tuesday.
