MINNEAPOLIS - A trio of UNT divers will compete in the NCAA Zone D Championships beginning Tuesday and running through Thursday at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center at the University of Minnesota, as they hope to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
Olivia Dollar, Brigid Krbec and Saylor Hawkins all qualified for the meet throughout the season with Dollar set to compete in the 3-meter springboard and Krbec and Hawkins in both the 1- and 3-meter events, and all competition will be broadcast live on BTN+. The 3-meter event will take place on Tuesday, with prelims set for 11 a.m., and finals at 2 p.m. The 1-meter will be on Wednesday with prelims at 11 a.m., and finals at 2:25 p.m.
Due to Zone D's success at the 2022 NCAA Championships, the top nine finishers this week in both the 1- and 3-meter will qualify for the 2023 NCAA Championships in Knoxville, Tennessee, March 15-18.
"I'm excited for a great week," UNT diving coach Stephanie O'Callaghan said. "It was really nice to have two weeks off in between conference and zones this year. Everyone runs on such an adrenaline rush through conference. That first week we were able to focus on recovery and then ramped things up again this past week and all three divers are looking really good. They're stronger mentally and physically this year. They've been there before and know what to expect. We're feeling prepared and confident, and I'm excited to see how we do."
