MINNEAPOLIS - Three UNT divers competed on Tuesday and Wednesday in the NCAA Zone D Championship and ended their seasons at the University of Minnesota against some of the country's best.
Seniors Olivia Dollar, Saylor Hawkins and Brigid Krbec all competed, with all three competing in the 3-meter springboard on Tuesday and Hawkins and Krbec competing in the 1-meter springboard on Wednesday. The trio earned the chance to compete in Minneapolis after achieving Zone qualifying standards in their respective events.
Krbec led the way in both events, finishing 43rd in the 3-meter with 240.20 points, five spots ahead of Hawkins (228.40) and eight ahead of Dollar (188.40). In the 1-meter event, Krbec finished 39th with 216.55 points - six spots ahead of Hawkins (185.95).
"I'm really proud of the divers this week and how they handled themselves in such a big setting and such a competitive event," UNT diving coach Stephanie O'Callaghan said. "They all have made such great strides this year and took all the challenges of this year head on. Also, we're very lucky to have all three of them back for a fifth year next year, when they can lead and teach the incoming freshmen and leave a special impact on this program."
