Softball Begins Conference USA Schedule at LA Tech

RUSTON, La. – UNT softball travels to meet Louisiana Tech beginning on Friday at 6 p.m. on CUSA.tv.
The Mean Green (12-8) will face the Lady Techsters (14-6) in a three-game series to begin its final season in Conference USA. The three-time C-USA champions enter the series after collecting a pair of wins at the Wooo Pig Classic in Fayetteville, Ark.
Kailey Gamble leads North Texas offensively with a .377 batting average, 10 home runs and 21 RBI in 20 starts at first base. She is currently ranked second in the nation in home runs and 11th with a .981 slugging percentage to lead the league in both categories.
The matchup will pit two top 50 RPI teams against one another with UNT checking in at 44 and LA Tech at 37 in the initial ranking released on Sunday.
North Texas is 17-17 versus Louisiana Tech but claimed a five-inning, run-rule victory in the semifinals of the C-USA Championships on May 13, 2022, in Denton. Head coach Rodney DeLong is 6-1 at LA Tech since 2019, his first season at UNT.
